Presently a good ADSL broadband will provide a speed of 4MB/s and an upload speed of 300-300 KB/s which is proving to be a huge problem for businesses that need to send large files. It is proving difficult for workers connecting to the office system when they are not in the office. One of the issues with broadband in the future is overcoming speed difficulties depending on the time of day.
The internet has its own world of rush hour, where the number of users can cause massive delays even on the broadband system. Future applications as well as those currently in place would benefit from a guaranteed quality of service. Live video streaming; live telephone (VOIP) and video conferencing are among some of the applications that are used by many businesses and would all benefit from the ability to run at guaranteed connection speeds.
The main problem with companies offering this is that they are only too aware of the consequences of guaranteeing something that they then do not deliver on, as Ofcom will be ready to hand out stiff penalties. In all, there is no reason to still be solely using standard dial-up as broadband is now affordable and easily installed. Broadband has many things to improve on and as with everything now, the ISP’s will be moving fast to produce new and exciting offers to businesses and home users. Whatever your reason to use the internet, broadband is necessary development to the exciting world of the internet.
