The introduction of broadband has been highly appreciated by the whole internet world, from the casual surfers to the company workers who use the internet for many hours a day. Broadband comes in many different packages depending on the internet service provider (ISP) people subscribe to. Virgin, Eclipse, BT and Tiscali are among the thousands of ISP’s offering broadband. Cable broadband is preferable as it gives a higher chance of maintaining a constant and reliable broadband speed. It runs through a cable directly to your house as opposed to the ADSL connection that comes through digitally, inevitably causing some unreliability. When broadband was launched, it was extremely expensive and people were apprehensive to take up on it. The same problem arose with the launch of the first mobile phones but as with the mobile phone company’s, ISP’s began to bring in more competitive prices. They offer packages like the fastest broadband, heavy use broadband and the best broadband bundles.
Being able to compare broadband has become massive business online. There are various websites that give enable you to companies, these include sites such as;

Many of the more well known brand name ISP’s have been highly criticised for their expensive prices and reliability with the lesser known names to often come out top in polls conducted by the Which? group. One possibility that Which? concluded is that the smaller providers may attract the type of user, who understands some of the technical issues, and thus support can be simpler for day-to-day faults, where as with the larger providers you are dealing with a massed public service, and the support staff will be more script based.
